The knitting Ditz

Yes. It's true. My mother-in-law wrecked the van today. She rolled it backwards down our driveway, scraped it against a dumpster that was in our street and wound up in the neighbors driveway. Now I suppose you're what my reaction to this small fiasco is . . . frustation? No. Anger? Definitely not. Here it is: I just cracked up laughing.

Why did I laugh? Well, it's such a relief to me, being a lifelong ditz, when someone else suffers from moments of fogginess. I'm just happy I'm not alone on my cloud. I mean, I've backed into my mother-in-law's car twice when it was parked in our driveway. I think it was time for her to have a turn. You see, the frustating thing about being aound me is that I am such a ditz. But the good thing about me is I freely forgive others mistakes - because my own are so obviously numerous. It's a gift really. At least I tell myself that when I've locked my keys out of my car. Yeah, this is a gift.

And how could I be mad? The woman was furiously scubbing my house for me when this whole episode occurred.

Anyway, for you sceptics out there in the chilly midwest. You'll be begging for my fluffy scarves soon. And I am planning on finishing several with the store I built when I was in my crochet phase. Knitting a scarf seems much more manageable than working on an entire afgan. I can't even believe I attempted such an intimidating project. It was quite beyond my ability. But knitting . . . knitting has a calming affect on my persona in the midst of this chaos. Row upon row, back and forth . . . tranquilly knitting my scarf as the children throw sharp objects at each other. I can ignore it all as I knit my cozy scarf.

Peacefully and tranquilly,

Travelin' Mom

Hi Lisa,

Your ditz blog was funny. Especially when you wrote "It's a gift really. At least I tell myself that when I've locked my keys out of my car." Actually, it would be worse if you locked YOURSELF out of the car. You are pretty lucky to have locked the KEYS out of the car. Then again, that must mean you were locked inside...hope you get out soon...you goofball! If I don't make fun of you anymore will you knit me a scarf? I won't borrow your van or wreck it or anything..oops that's been done.

Have fun with the fam

Greg and I have greatly enjoyed your blogging! It's been fun to follow you across the country. Can one of you include a guess of your arrival in CO in a near-future blog? I've been spending a lot of time out of town - and want to schedule as much time at home as I can while you are there. Slippers needs the moral support.

A highway patrolman pulled alongside a speeding RV on the freeway. Glancing at the RV, he was astounded to see that the blonde behind the wheel was knitting!! Realizing that she was oblivious to his flashing lights and siren, the trooper cranked down his window, turned on his bullhorn and yelled, "PULL OVER!"
"NO!" the blonde yelled back
"IT'S A SCARF!"
