30, April, 2006

Wow, that’s a lot of blogs! I was really behind if you can’t tell. I’m actually sick of writing. Big surprise I know! We drove straight through last night. I was up the majority of the time. I no more that 5 hours of sleep, I was up talking to my parents, trying to keep them awake so we wouldn’t veer off the road. I stayed up till 11, woke up again at 2, ate Arby’s, went back to bed at 6:30, and woke up again at 8:30 I think.
I can’t believe I stayed up that much. My dad bought me this really awesome energy drink and it makes you go and go and go and go and go. I was up all night just jabbering away to my dad. I know it doesn’t sound much different than usual. Actually, with the energy juice in me, I was what I normally am – ignoring the fact that I was shaking cause of all the caffeine and stuff. The drink was actually quite healthy, it had a butload of vitamins in it. I’m not even tired now. We should arrive home in around 15 minutes, where my grandma has chicken, noodles, and cake waiting for us. I love that woman.
See ya’ll Tuesday,
Morgan :)

In celebration of my 40 year-old uncle’s birthday, we cooked him a buttload of French toast for breakfast this morning. Afterwards we headed to the nearby Recreational Center for some fun in the pool. That place was awesome. They have a lazy river, a two-story slide, a hot tub that was huge, a lap poop (yes, I did my workout) diving boards, lily pads and a bagoogle of other stuff. We really, really, really need one of those in Fort Wayne. It was wicked. We left around 5:00 to head home. We plan to drive straight through the night and get home tomorrow afternoon. Hope we make it !

We stayed at my Uncle Greg and Aunt Kathy’s house today while they worked. We played with the goats, chased the cows, and did pottery. We had a blast. It was Greg’s birthday on Saturday and we cooked him a turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cherry pie for his birthday eve. It felt like Thanksgiving. I was so stuffed. It was awesome.

We drove almost all day through Colorado until we arrived at my uncle and aunt’s house around 5:00. There house is awesome. They have dogs, cats, chickens, goats, and cows. We busied ourselves by collecting the eggs and chasing cats. Nothing more to say here - it was ultimately a driving day.

We arrived at Arches National Park late this morning and started a 3.8 mile hike to Delicate Arch. Katty and I made a bet that if she could climb to the top she would get a candy bar. If she didn’t I got the candy bar. She won.
We finished the hike and quickly started another one. We saw the arch and then climbed around the rocks. We all attempted to climb to the top of one of the tallest sandstones, all taking various routes. Darby, Tatum, and my mom attempted steep, narrow ways up to the top while I simply walked around to the other side and walked up the not so steep side. I made it up in half the time they did. My mom said whoever gets to the top first got a candy bar. She assumed that she’d get there first. Instead she was last and I was first. That chocolate tasted SO good!

I was not feeling all that great this morning. I woke up and shortly after my nose started gushing blood. By the time it stopped, we were driving through the mountains toward Freemont Indian State park. Of course, once my nose stopped, I had started to cough up blood. Not just a small amount, quite a bit actually. I hope to never do it again. It was the sickest thing. We just assumed it was altitude sickness, even though I have never had it in my life. I cleaned myself up and went toward the front seat to do school. I was just barely starting when I started spurting again. My mom insisted I lay down. I was fine really, I only had a headache, a bloody nose, a stomach ache from swallowing the blood( I didn’t do it on purpose, it just traveled from my nose, to the back of my head, down my throat. You know, like when milk comes out your nose. Only it was the other way around and it was blood, not milk) and I was coughing up blood from swallowing it. I skipped the Freemont Indians and read my book while Katty took a nap.
We were planning to go to these hot springs, which a lady at Zion said were very organic. If any body ever says that again we are not even looking. This place was disgusting, the building wasn’t even a shack and the RV park consisted of old buses with three wheels. We drove in and were greeted by a pond, which, with the state of all the other things, we assumed it was the hot spring. Of course, we were wrong. The hot springs consisted of old moldy bath tubs with holes in both ends for the water to flow in and out, and big metal pipes with rags on them carrying the water. All this for only $7.50 per person! Yea right, like we were going to pay 40 bucks for the family to soak in moldy pools. But we felt compeled to stay and soak just for the laugh. We bargained with the owner until we got to 20 bucks for the family. We stayed there until the bottom of our feet were green with algae and our skin had burnt off.

We drove a short way to Zion National Park today. We always go tubing down the river here but the plan quickly changed. We have never been up here in April before and the water was flipping cold and was completely rapids. We went to plan B and took our bikes down and decided to ride around. There was a 3.5 mile bike trail so we decided to give it a whirl. It didn’t take long at all so we ate lunch by the river and biked off to the town.
We browsed the gift shops in the town for a couple hours and then were going to go bike to this old abandoned town. There was no bike trail near the highway and we didn’t want to all have too bike two miles uphill back to the RV, load up the bikes and drive to the ghost town. Instead, my dad biked to the RV and came to pick us up. We drove until the bike path appeared again and unloaded all the bikes to ride back to the ghost town.
About to be on our way, we realized that we had left the back-pack in town with all the gifts, food, drinks, and camera in it. My mom and I hopped into the RV to run back and get it while the rest of the family stayed with the unloaded bikes. Making sure that all the bikes were away from the sides of the RV, my mom started to pull forward. We started to hear a grinding sound and checked in the mirrors to see if we had run over anything. Not seeing any, we decided to move again. There was the grinding sound again. “Terry, am I running over anything, we’re hearing this weird sound, “ yelled my mom out the window. “No, go ahead, I don’t see anything,” replied my dad. She started to move forward when he yelled “STOP! Wait just a minute, oh my, oh… my.”
Apparently, when my dad was unloading the bikes he had placed one in front of the RV. You can’t see directly in front of the RV so we couldn’t see the bike resting on the front of the motor home. My father pulled the poor bike out of under the RV. One of the handlebars was grotesquely twisted a completely backwards, the seat cover torn, the one wheel was curved while the other was shredded, including the metal, the gears and chain were bent outwards, and it was in the dumpster by nightfall. MY bike was in the dumpster by nightfall. I loved that bike. It was not even two years old, it looked almost brand new and it was blue. Leaving my dad fuming at his forgetfulness, my mom and I quickly drove back and picked up the waiting back-pack. We then loaded the bikes back up and drove to the ghost town. Then we headed to Freemont Indian State Park.

Muffin is blue. First thing Katty asked this morning was “ Watz wong wid Muffin’s face?” I quickly whipped on my glasses and turned my head toward Muffin. Her face was blue. I had been painting with acrylic paint the previous day and quickly checked the painting to see if she had played in it. She didn’t but we later found out that she had smelled something lovely in the trash bag outside and decided to play with it. The plate with all the globs of leftover paint were in the bag and she obviously ventured into them. She clearly likes blue. If you don’t know already, acrylic paint is permanent. It never comes of clothes, wood, or anything for that matter except skin. I have no idea how we are going to get this off.
We woke up to rain pounding on the roof this morning. Hopeing it would pass we ate breakfast and got ready for a long day of hiking. By the time we were ready, the sun was shining through the windows and it seemed to of cleared up. We took a short walk to the sand dunes, which were much different that White Sands National Park. Instead of the sand being white, these were a reddish-orange. They were also much smaller. Rapidly, a large black cloud, which had been lingering over the distant mountains, started to move our way. We started to head back to the RV, sensing that it was going to pour. On our way back it started to shower more than water. It was hailing. Finally, we made it back, cold, soaked, and starving. We ate lunch and by that time it had cleared up again. We started out on another hike, figuring the rain had past. We were wrong. A fourth of the way through our hike it started raining again. Luckily, this time it only sprinkled so we kept on hiking. We climed around on the petrified dunes, climbing to the top of one of the tallest ones. We hiked approximetly 5 miles today.

We drove some more today, arriving in Utah early afternoon. There were some great outlet malls there and we finally found my confirmation dress. That was a big load off me and my mother’s shoulders.
We drove some more and arrived at Snow Canyon. We hiked and climed on the mountains of sandstone and volcanic rock, and after a few hours we headed back to the RV. We cooked out and roasted marshmallows and made pugiepies.
Not much more to say here,

Unfortunately, this is was our last day in Califonia. L. We only have one more week of vacation. Of course, when we come back, I get to see all ya’ll again. J.
We lazed around the pool today until it was time to take off for our week coming back. I took a super long shower in the bathouse, considering 30 seconds is your limit in the RV and ran with Muffin. I woulda done my workout in the pool was honkin crowded.
We hit the road and traveled 10 miles in two hours. Obvously, we were caught in a muhusive traffic jam and we weren’t going anywhere. We pulled off into an RV store and went shopping. We are planning to trade our moter home in soon and buy a better one so we decided to take a look. We found one that all of us really liked and took it for a test drive. My parents negotiated the prices with the salespeople but they were asking to much so we didn’t buy. By that time the road was clearer and we took off again.

We all were still exhausted from our ginormous day yesterday so we lazed around the RV and did laundry. I took Katty to the pool for an hour cause she was dying to swim. Once my dad came back from work we headed to some friends for dinner. Micheal (the guy I almost killed) was there and he started asking us for fashion tips. Bad idea. He was wearing black pants with brown shoes and a brown belt. A big no,no. It was hilarious. We ate dinner, which was really good, the brownies were AWSOME, and then we headed back to the RV. Nothing much more to say here, that was about it.

Wanna know one of the greatest places on the whole planet? Wanna, wanna WANNA? DISNEYLAND! It is one of the most awesome places on earth! I was so excited I could barely sleep last night. I’ve been their several times before but every time it is more exciting and fun!
The park opened at 8:00 so we made it our goal to get there as early as possible. We arrived 20 minutes after it opened, that’s awfully good for the family who’s never early. If all ya’ll aren’t aware, it’s Disney’s 50th anniversary this year and let me tell ya, they know how to celebrate! We started with the classic rides, you know, the teacups, the Dumbo ride, and one of the most annoying ones in the whole park – It’s a Small World. Yea, the ride itself is very cool, but I can’t STAND the song! The song gets stuck in your head for three flipping days. You find yourself humming, singing, dancing, and skipping along with it. What a NIGHTMARE! One of the neat things is that they did for the 50th is that on some of the more classic and popular rides they have a special gold seat ride thingy. You know, the thing that you sit in. They had a gold Dumbo and a gold teacup, and more.
Around 2:00 we ran out to the RV to whoof down some lunch before heading back to see the parade. Katty was awed by the parade, as she was two years ago. The characters and the performers in the parade were sweating like mad. It was flippin hot out, I can’t imagine being the Beast and having to wear all that fur and whatnot.
After the parade, we grabbed a couple fast passes and hit Buzz Lightyear Star command and Space Mountain. Katty’s first rollercoaster, Matterhorn bobsled’s, didn’t go to well. She was fine with the ride, but you go through a couple dark tunnels where “monstews” pop out at you. After we finished the ride, my mom turned around to face my dad and Katty and asked “Are you ok Katty?” Bad idea. Katty started to ball, obviously not pleased with the rollercoaster. After that, we went on the scarier rides while a parent and Katty did something else.
My all time favorite ride is the Indiana Jones ride. It isn’t like a rollercoaster, but the it feels like your in the adventure. There are also some pretty weird illusions that are really cool. Katty’s fav ride was the Pooh’s Honeypot ride. We didn’t have to wait in line very long, and that was great. It was pretty crowded.
Later that night, we plopped down for the fireworks, and bought some cookies, which we hungrily ate. At this point, the main area of the park was packed with people wanting to see the fireworks. We got pretty good seats although some people were really rude. By that point Katty was exhausted, on the way to the Fantasmic show, she said, “Mommy I’m tired. Can Daddy carry me?” My dad took Katty and she fell asleep insantly – sleeping through all of Fantasmic, which included bombs, fireworks, and deafining noises.
We arrived back at the RV at 12:30 –all of us exhausted. The only downside of the day was that we didn’t make it to see Pooh and his friends. Eeyore is my favorite Disney character and I only saw him briefly in the parade.
