Muffin is blue. First thing Katty asked this morning was “ Watz wong wid Muffin’s face?” I quickly whipped on my glasses and turned my head toward Muffin. Her face was blue. I had been painting with acrylic paint the previous day and quickly checked the painting to see if she had played in it. She didn’t but we later found out that she had smelled something lovely in the trash bag outside and decided to play with it. The plate with all the globs of leftover paint were in the bag and she obviously ventured into them. She clearly likes blue. If you don’t know already, acrylic paint is permanent. It never comes of clothes, wood, or anything for that matter except skin. I have no idea how we are going to get this off.
We woke up to rain pounding on the roof this morning. Hopeing it would pass we ate breakfast and got ready for a long day of hiking. By the time we were ready, the sun was shining through the windows and it seemed to of cleared up. We took a short walk to the sand dunes, which were much different that White Sands National Park. Instead of the sand being white, these were a reddish-orange. They were also much smaller. Rapidly, a large black cloud, which had been lingering over the distant mountains, started to move our way. We started to head back to the RV, sensing that it was going to pour. On our way back it started to shower more than water. It was hailing. Finally, we made it back, cold, soaked, and starving. We ate lunch and by that time it had cleared up again. We started out on another hike, figuring the rain had past. We were wrong. A fourth of the way through our hike it started raining again. Luckily, this time it only sprinkled so we kept on hiking. We climed around on the petrified dunes, climbing to the top of one of the tallest ones. We hiked approximetly 5 miles today.

Miss ya,
Morgan
