No time.
Bonjour,
Today we had to leave the hotel. I hate having to leave hotels. Here are my reasons:
1. We have to pack up all the clothes and junk that we hauled in.
2. No more waffles with strawberry syrup, confectioner’s sugar, and whipped cream.
3. No more highspeed Internet service.
4. No more workout room and pool.
5. No more free candy in the hotel rooms.
6. No more long, hot showers without you family banging on the door saying that you’re going to pay for the water bills.
7. No more fluffy pillows.
8. No more cable TV, which means I have to say goodbye to TV land .
9. No more maid cleaning your room.
I’m so deprived aren’t I ? I don’t know how I’ll survive. Note: This is supposed to be immensely dramatic.
We packed up and checked out of the hotel, after one last swim in the pool and one last show on TV land. Then we headed to Newgate Prison. It’s an old abandone prison and copper mine. Pretty much a labor camp. It’s from the 17 and early 1800’s. It was pretty interesting. The convicts had easy ways of escaping because of the shafts in the mine and other things. The first convict of the prison escaped only eighteen days after his arrival. One time ALL the convicts escaped. That would have been embaressing if you were a guard.Another convict had escaped all the prisons in Conneticut and the was then placed in Newgate. He wrote to the government asking to be executed instead of having to work considering “that I started my life of crime to prevent working.” He escaped Newgate three times.
The scenery was beautiful at the prison. They were on a hill and it overlooked miles and miles of woods, which had changed into gold, orange, and red leaves. The ruins of the buildings were really neat and across the street there was this field of green grass with the hay stacks rolled into the balls. You know what I’m talking about. Around the field there was white birches and mountains of changing trees. It was beautiful.
We headed off to meet my dad at the rental car return building and headed to Scranton, Pennsyvania.
Bye Bye,
Morgan
P.S. Tomorrow’s my birthday!!
